I wonder if there is another Russian word that sounds a lot like the word жопа, which means ass in Russian (referring to a person's behind or a person you don't like, but not a donkey). I feel like I hear it a lot, though my husband claims that he doesn't recall saying it much at all.
He's encouraging me not to blog about this. "It's not a nice word," he says.
But it's a word I'd like to be able to toss around. So into the blog it goes!
I flipped through my Russian dictionary to see if anything else starts with жо. Nothing. Well, I should explain that at the moment the only dictionary I have handy is my Oxford Starter Russian Dictionary, which is quite thin, but beautifully designed in two colors, which makes it so easy to scan the entries.
I wonder how many of those words I'll know a year from now.
